Talking Hands

A group exhibition of the Asian American Women Artists Alliance
at A.I.R. Gallery, 511 W 25 Street, NYC, July 20 - August 7, 2004

We are indebted to many of our current members who unselfishly volunteered time and energy to all phases of Talking Hands in order to make this exhibition possible. This year the Curatorial Committee consists of four dedicated members: Chie Nishio, Ellen Hsiao, Paula DeLuccia and Jacie Lee Almira. They spent many hours choosing the fine work to be included in this excellent show.

A special thanks to Karin Soika who did a beautiful job on the online catalog and created CDs of the catalog for sale.

I would like to also give thanks to the following members: Ella Yang who took on the challenge of filing for the non-profit postal bulk-mailing rate for AAWAA. We are able to save tremendously using our newly acquired postal Indicia; Yvette Castro who has given me time and support through grueling hours of grant writing and exhibition coordination; Jacie Lee Almira who assisted me in communication and also exhibition coordination. Talking Hands would not have gone forward without Jacie's persistence and determination.

Generous funding from the Fund for Creative Communities/New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, has made this exhibition possible.

Finally, I would like to add that this exhibition catalog is produced not only for the documentation of AAWAA's effort in supporting emerging Asian women artists, but also as a literary forum for the Asian American women's experience.
